On July 31, 2007, he released his self-titled debut album Sean Kingston and it included songs like Beautiful Girls, Me Love, Take You There, Got No Shorty, and That Ain’t Right. The album peaked at number #2 on the New Zealand Albums (RMNZ) chart, at number #3 on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums (Billboard) chart, at number #6 on the US Billboard 200 chart, and at number #8 on the UK Albums (OCC) chart. Also, it was certified ‘Gold’ by the United States (RIAA), Australia (ARIA), United Kingdom (BPI), New Zealand (RMNZ), and Ireland (IRMA) and ‘Platinum’ by Canada (Music Canada).

Sean Kingston was involved in a near-fatal jet-skiing accident in Miami, Florida in May 2011 and was rushed to the hospital. Miami police later charged him for “careless operation” and he was required to pay a $180 fine. He returned to ride jet skis again in 2018.
